2016-02-29_1335ACE provides commuter rail service between Stockton and San Jose. With a total route length of 85 miles, daily ridership of approximately 2,500 passengers, and 10 stations along the route.

Its former maintenance facility was at the Stockton Rail Yard though a lease with Union Pacific (UP) Railroad Its new maintenance facility yard, scheduled to open in March 2014, sits on 64 acres and allows returning trains to continue north to the facility instead of backtracking to the former facility. The new facility also allows ACE to perform major functions more efficiently, including dispatching eight trains daily, servicing, repairs, inspections and fueling. There will be 30 maintenance and administrative staff employed at the new facility.

The new maintenance facility will help us perform repairs faster, increase equipment availability, and decrease unproductive and time-consuming switching of equipment across UP tracks”, according to Greg Baxter, Director of Operations for the San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission.  ACE personnel will also benefit from new locker rooms and break rooms. Solar panels are also featured at the new facility to help reduce energy consumption.
